Weekender Style: dress it up or down

This post is in partnership with Francis + Benedict, Hermosa Jewelry, & Zero George, but all opinions are my own.  The links below include affiliate links which give me a commission to help keep this blog up and running, so thank you for shopping through me!

Getting all gussied up for Fashion Week was SO much fun, but I have to say I'm most comfortable in my Keds!  Regardless of whether you love to feel fancy or keep it casual, you can do both with Francis + Benedict skirts. I don't think I've ever had so many compliments on an outfit before!  The jewelry from Hermosa resulted in more "where did you get those?!" questions, especially their fun tassel styles.  I don't think tassels are dying out anytime soon, and I'm really glad (after all, #everydayimtasselin)!  The best part about wearing pieces from these local companies is that I was supporting a community of some great female business women.  Francis + Benedict was started by a local counselor and now is able to provide jobs to widows in Togo with her products, and Hermosa was started by a Charlestonian when she was just 15!  It's amazing when we can support other female boss babes through something as simple as fashion!  Enjoy these looks (wonderfully captured by Abby Murphy Photography) that you can dress up or down and wear all year long, and scroll to the bottom for shopping links.

A weekend in Charleston: Charleston Fashion Week 2016

For one week every March, Marion square is transformed into the most vibrant and lively spot for Charleston Fashion Week. This year marks the 10th annual CFW,  originally created by the fab Ayoka Lucas, who is such a fun and funky lady.   New York's Fashion week was created by the great Fern Mallis, and SHE even comes to check out the latest and greatest local boutique shows and emerging designers the Holy City has to offer.  To top off the explosion of great fashion, Charleston Wedding Week took place at the same time.  This was almost too much fashion goodness for one week, and I'm so glad I got to see a little glimpse of both!  Here is a photo recap of a couple of days from chsfw & chswedweek!

For opening night, I kept it simple with my Warby Parker's, hand made black and white Ibu clutch (on sale HERE), and go-to cobalt Society Social Hostess Gown.  I ran into some awesome folks including my fave barista and dj (@catlord) Jeff, Holly from Dandy Boutique looking great with her lemon bag, my hot date and great friend Meredith, and Ayoka (rode in on a golf cart, yesssss):

I loved the local boutique shows, especially Ibu, Tres Carmen, and 7 Gypsy (hello headdress!):

On Wednesday it was time to don a little tulle and partake in some Wedding Week loveliness.  We got to enjoy delightful decor, bites, & cocktails at the William Aiken House for the Kate McDonald bridal/Lula Kate show.  It was a beautiful setting, made even more stunning by Luke Wilson Special Events.

The show was a combination of fun and romantic Lula Kate bridesmaids dresses, along with some stunning Kate McDonald wedding gowns.  In case we hadn't already been wowed enough by the setting, the models gracefully walked a runway/aisle that went over a koi pond fountain!

I'm already looking forward to next year's Charleston Fashion Week & Wedding Week!
