I was recently asked to help decorate for a women's networking group, The Opportunity Social. This is a Charleston group with some wonderful ladies, and I really wanted to be part of it. I hesitantly accepted this task a few days before I was about to go on vacation, because I knew that would eat into my planning time. Luckily for me, I know some STELLAR boss ladies who donated their time, products, and crafts to help me have a fantastic summer soiree. You really can plan a fabulous party in less than 2 weeks!
Throw on the Throw Pillows
Whether you are entertaining indoors or outdoors, throw pillows can really transform your seating area. We all know they can be expensive, so first try to re-purpose pillows you already have and put them where they don't normally go (pillows from your bed might work great on your outdoor seating). These Suite 33 indoor pillows are available at Emerson Row and have graphic patterns that represent different parts of Charleston. I think they looked great on this outdoor wicker furniture with my Turkish towels! I wrapped a few of them and put them in this gorgeous Eliza Gran pom pom basket that I got from Pink Chicken on King Street. A less expensive version is linked here.
Put Calligraphy on Anything & Everything
By now you have probably seen lots of my collaborations with one of my favorite girl bosses, Danielle of The Town Serif. Calligraphy can transform the simplest items into something great; church fans, inner tubes, or cups. Here Danielle hand lettered coffee sleeves for our brunch guests to have as favors, and added to our decor with some "rise & shine" balloons. How fitting for a Sunday brunch!
Hang Some Fun Art
My decor was focused in a cabana, which consisted of bare plank walls. What better way to spruce it up than with some great artwork? I recently discovered Modern South Art, and thought her colorful ocean themed designs would be perfect for giving us great poolside decor. I went home with a crab and a sailboat because I decided my bedroom needs some summer vibes all year long. Here prints are only $24 so you can buy a set of them.
Wow Guests With Interesting Details
By now you may have realized that this event decor was only possible due to me calling in a lot of favors and rallying some amazingly talented and generous lady friends. One such woman is Paulette of Ripple Coffee. She is letting me sell their coffee around town, which is grown and roasted by women, as a fundraiser for my coworker. We have raised around $250 so far! Coffee seemed like the obvious match for a brunch event, so I had their gorgeous coffee bags double as vases. Throw in some eucalyptus and white blooms with some fun mini-pennants and you can skip the florist. Manor Decor loaned me the ever-popular swan float, who served as our cabana boy for the day! He was ready with fresh towels so we could go for a dip after our brunch. I set him up with a letter board to announce the new Instagram account for the group. I use my letter board whenever I'm a vendor at a market, but I think it looks so cute as part of a gallery wall or party decor, too!
Do you know any fabulous boss ladies? The next time you're in a decorating funk for a party, reach out to a local entrepreneur. They may offer you a discount or let you borrow some items if you're willing to have them for sale at your event!
