Charleston Date Night: A Little Woodsy

One of my favorite things about anniversaries is the corresponding theme that comes along with each year.  This year marks our fifth "wooden" anniversary, so Harold's Cabin is obviously the perfect place for a very woodsy date night!  You and your guy with both be pleased with the hearty menu that has a little something for everyone.

Woodsy Food/Drinks:

My favorite drink since this place first opened has been the Salty Racoon.  I have tried to recreate the way they smoke the rosemary for this awesome beverage, but I will just have to leave the fancy cocktail creating to them.  The Salty Racoon is definitely a great way to get your palate ready for some earthy ingredients in crowd pleasers like the forage board, beet dish, and latkes ("Harold & Lillian") we had.  The gorgeous presentation on large wooden boards makes it fun to order a few options and rotate the platters around until you have had a little of everything.  You might not want to share the best carrot cake of your life though; it's grilled so the outside is crunchy while the rest of it is still super moist.  I may have learned a lot in 5 years of marriage, but sharing good eats is still a challenge!

Gifts for Your Guy:

Even if you're not specifically needing wooden themed gifts, I think some of my finds make great gifts for men any time of year.  Sideshow Press happened to have a lot of great rustic finds right now, like the Old Fashioned Love wooden postcard that I plan to frame, as well as these Bottoms Up coasters. Those are such a cool find that won't wilt like paper coasters.  I was able to go all out with wrapping too, thanks to The Blue Root's gift wrapping services. Sideshow had some really neat wood tape & wooden gift tags (hand lettered by The Town Serif) I wanted to incorporate, but I could have never made my wrapping look this good!  The Blue Root is going to be doing holiday gift wrap with Charleston pick-up and delivery so I will be calling them again this winter!

Marriage can be so much fun but also challenging!  I'm excited to celebrate this occasion with my hubs, and am working on starting out the next five years with more smooching and more unplugging together during the week.  Tag me if you wind up at Harold's Cabin for your own #CharlestonDateNight!  You can also check out photographer Libby William's blog, Plate South, for more Harold's goodness coming soon. Cheers, y'all!
