Weekender Wardrobe: Round Bag Round-Up

I'm certainly no style guru, but I do find it fun to stay on top of trends when I can!  I keep seeing round bags all over Instagram, and I love them more and more each time I spot one.  Here is a little round-up of some of my favorites, with the lowest prices at the top & the covet-worthy splurges at the bottom.

Some of these links help earn me a small commission, even if you just click on them and don't buy anything, so I really appreciate you helping support my blog.  Regardless, these are all just bags that I discovered and love!

Weekender Style: Holiday Shoe Round-Up

Put some pep in your step while you're rockin' around the Christmas tree this year!  I love repurposing old sweaters and dresses by investing in a new pair of shoes each season- it helps you make your look feel fresh without spending hundreds on a new dress alone.  This post is partially in partnership with Keds & Talbots, but all of these are my selections.  Please remember to shop through my commission-earning links to help keep this blog up and running. Thanks, weekenders!

Weekender Wardrobe: Mother-Daughter Travel Style

Packing light doesn't sound like much fun, but you have to save room for all your souvenirs (am I right?!).  Below are a few of my essentials that I brought on our recent trip to San Francisco.  This post is in partnership with Persifor, Jackson Davenport, & Toss Designs, but all opinions are my own.  Thank you SO much for clicking on the affiliate links I have provided, which help support this blog.  Ok, now open your suitcase and throw in the following:

1. Great Sunglasses

If you aren't sure what style is best for your face shape, I highly recommend that you head to Jackson Davenport on King Street the next time you're downtown Charleston.  Ask for Nancy Davenport (one of the awesome owners who works there), who will help you pick out a great pair of glasses or sunglasses to suit you.  I'm wearing some Ray Bans and mom has on a pair of Mykita Philomenes, both of which are super lightweight so they didn't start to hurt our ears after a day of sight seeing.

2. A Versatile Purse

Let colors be your neutral.  Bringing along a pop of color like orange will likely go with most of your wardrobe.  Toss had this 2-in-1 purse with a cute bamboo handle, so I could feel like I was changing up my purse depending on how casual or dressy my outfit was.  Toss just opened the CUTEST store on King Street in Downtown Charleston- you have to go see it the next time you're there!  They have everything from cute office accessories to champagne print pajamas.

3. Matching Dresses

Y'all know I have never met a Persifor dress I didn't love, mostly because they are so flattering and so comfy at the same time.  This navy "coat of arms" Winpenny was no exception.  I've always been a navy girl (mostly because of my mom), and it made for the perfect layering piece with my Nice is the New Cool Sweatshirt.  Gotta have those layers in San Fran, or really even just for the plane ride!

4. Accessory Staples

Navy & gold are usually my go-to jewelry colors. I can get away with bringing just one or two things and wearing them over and over.  Tassels are always fun to spice things up, and these are just $12!  P.S. Don't forget the best accessories ever,  a statement lip & nail color!  We're both wearing RMS Red on our lips & I have RMS beloved on my nails.

5. Balloons

Say what?! You heard me!  Balloons. We HAD to have them because we were celebrating my mom's 70th, but even if you're just traveling for kicks I highly recommend getting some balloons.  You can get letters or numbers and air-fill them or take them to a nearby grocery store.  Your travel photos will never be the same!

This week is National Business Women's Week, and I have a special invitation for my fellow boss babes!  Erin of boutique social media firm Pinckney Palm will be at my shop Monday the 16th, discussing "Girl Tribes & Business Ownership Real Talk".  HERE is your invite for that, as well as for a whole week of Instagram/Facebook lives with a bunch of local greats!  The best thing we can do is to continue to help each other figure this whole "boss lady" thing out, am I right?!

Personally I find it SO helpful to hear from other entrepreneurs & working women of all types.  I wanted to share some articles I've written or found on various topics you might find useful.  Stay tuned for a list of my favorite podcasts, too!

The Rising Tide Society has it right with the whole "community over competition" premise... sadly not everyone is on board with that idea, we women can be catty sometimes, huh!?  Regardless, we have to ignore the people that are just in it to win it.  Keep working together, lifting each other up, and sharing the love!

This "sharing the love" situation is SUPER easy- like and comment on your favorite female Instagrammers or pin your favorite blogs (hint hint!), shop from female makers when possible, sign up for a local artist's workshop, or find someone to mentor.

Weekender Wardrobe: Game Day to Date Night

No matter how warm it still is in the south, fall is upon us!  This is my favorite season for enjoying some cozy date nights with my husband and reconnecting with friends for tailgating fun.  Your favorite team won't be the only one who is majorly #winning if you learn to re-style your looks to accommodate multiple occasions.  I recently teamed up with Jackson Davenport and Escapada Living to create a couple of easy weekend looks featuring their products.  I really enjoyed this partnership, and all opinions are my own.

Step 1: Pick a fun top that works for day & night

You may have seen me posting about Escapada Living on my Instagram lately.  When I was looking at their latest selection online, their Serena top stood out immediately!  I realized it was super versatile and also wound up being SO comfy.  It has the perfect combo of flow and structure, and I adore the little details like a criss-cross style front and rolled up sleeves.  I am such a fan of the adorable prints they are known for, and black and white is always a go-to for me.  A lot of people don't know that Escapada is a Charleston based brand, founded in 2009 and constantly expanding (be on the lookout for their new fabrics and styles being added all the time).  You can shop online or in their precious shop in Belle Hall if you're local to Charleston!

Step 2:  Swap out accessories

So many days I find myself in transition, eesh. Going from working my shop to an event around town, game day to date night, or pool to dinner is pretty much the norm for me.  I've found that just changing it up with your accessories is the easiest way to accommodate a busy schedule (and go easy on your budget at the same time).  I usually wear glasses, so I'll often switch out styles or go from sunglasses to glasses to mix up my look.  Here I'm using a couple of pairs from Jackson Davenport's King Street store.  Most of the brands in their shop can only be found there (unless you want to travel out of state to get, no thanks!).  Many of them even come from Europe and are just so fashion forward (but still really fun and also VERY comfortable on the back of my ears).  Jackson Davenport has been around Charleston for over 60 years, so no wonder they were able to nail it when it came to quickly identifying the right frame style for my face. One of the owners herself was selecting frames from me, and apparently cat eye is best for me!

I made a couple of other swaps (jewelry, purse, & shoes) to create two outfits from one, piece of cake!  All of that is linked below, and I appreciate you using my affiliate links to help me earn a small commission.
